I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with decades of nursing experience. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals facing mental health challenges.

Taking a holistic, patient-centered approach, I offer comprehensive medication management services that address not just symptoms but also the underlying factors influencing well-being. My practice is built on a foundation of safety, empathy, respect, trust, and collaboration, ensuring that each treatment plan is personalized to meet the unique needs of every patient.

I specialize in treating a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mood disorders. My goal is to empower individuals to better understand their mental health, build resilience, and achieve lasting recovery.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, listening to music, exploring new foods, traveling to new places, and snowboarding.

Cheryl Mateo, MSN,AGPN-C

Raised in the beautiful Philippines, she became a skilled nurse midwife and earned her Master’s degree in Nursing. Her journey began as a medical-surgical nurse, then transitioned to Saudi Arabia as a trauma-surgical nurse, before moving to the United States to further her education in the Nurse Practitioner program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

Passionate about helping older adults, she specializes as an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. Her extensive experience enables her to understand the unique physical, mental, and social needs of older individuals, delivering personalized care that addresses their specific health challenges—whether managing chronic conditions or collaborating with healthcare providers and families for optimal care.

Her dedication extends to younger adults as well, where she guides them through their healthcare needs. With expertise in diagnosing complex conditions and managing chronic diseases, she ensures every adult receives the care they deserve. Her strong communication skills and knowledge of geriatric medications make her a valuable advocate for her patients.

Beyond work, she enjoys spending time with her beloved dog, Rob, and loves traveling along with watching Korean dramas, spy thrillers, political dramas, and gripping war movies. Faith is at the center of her life, as she believes that all good things come through

Geta Miclaus, BSN, RN, APRN, FNP-BC

With over two decades of experience in both medical and emergency department settings, Geta Miclaus, Family Nurse Practitioner, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the healthcare field. As an Oncology Nurse, Geta has developed strong leadership and interprofessional communication skills. Working alongside Amalyn Mejia has deepened Geta’s understanding of healthcare disparities and reinforced a commitment to serving vulnerable populations. Geta has many years of experience working with Veterans. Geta focuses on evidence-based practice, advanced pharmacology, and hands-on clinical experiences, aligning perfectly with career aspirations. Fluent in both Romanian and English.

Amalyn B. Mejia, MSN, FNP-C

I graduated with a medical degree, attended a year of an internal medicine residency program, and practiced as a moonlighting doctor in the Philippines. However, in pursuit of the American dream, my husband, my three kids, and I immigrated to the United States. To support my family, I worked as a vascular access and oncology nurse for almost two decades. When our kids became adults, the desire to become a provider resurfaced. That led me to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner.

Being in the profession satisfies my dream of providing excellent and patient-centered care to each and every one. I believe that being a nurse practitioner is not just a career, but a devotion.

As a family nurse practitioner, I specialize in the well-being of the pediatric to geriatric population, managing both acute and chronic illnesses.

During my free time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, three girls, family, and friends. I love skiing, watching movies, and strolling by the beach.
